Taurine, which is often added to popular energy drinks, is in headlines after a study has linked it to leukemia, a life-threatening blood cancer. Studies say leukemia cells use taurine to grow, but this does not suggest that it can cause cancer. Those who are healthy do not need to avoid taurine but should consume energy drinks in moderation.
