Can exercise worsen arthritis or help relieve joint pain?

short by / on Thursday, 22 October, 2026
Exercise need not worsen arthritis, says Dr Anirudh Maslekar. Low-impact activities like walking, swimming and cycling can ease stiffness, improve flexibility and strengthen muscles supporting joints. Gentle stretching and strength training also help, but exercises should match pain levels. Seek medical guidance if symptoms are severe.
