Menarche marks the onset of menstruation and the ability to conceive. Pregnancy usually requires the release of a mature egg during the menstrual cycle. Although rare, there have been documented cases of pregnancy before menarche. Very rarely, girls experiencing precocious puberty may have mature reproductive organs capable of supporting pregnancy before menarche.
