Can inhalers complicate spine surgery outcomes?

A new international study of Johns Hopkins University, in collaboration with AIIMS Delhi, has flagged a concern for asthma patients undergoing spine surgery, suggesting that long-term use of inhaled steroids may raise the likelihood of repeat operations after spinal fusion.Such patients were more than three times as likely to require a second surgery compared to those not using inhaled steroids.
