Mother in law is not as helpless as it seems. She has the right to initiate legal action against the daughter in law in appropriate cases. She can get an FIR registered for Criminal breach of trust or a complaint under domestic violence act may also be filed. If jewellery is illegally taken then again legal action may be initiated.
