short by Kiran Khatri / on Thursday, 18 June, 2020
Indian-origin Sikh MP and leader of Canada's New Democratic Party, Jagmeet Singh, was removed from the Parliament after refusing to apologise for calling another MP a "racist". Bloc Quebecois House Leader Alain Therrien voted against a motion to recognise "systemic racism" within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. "I was angry at the moment and I stand by it," Singh said.
