Canada to meet NATO defence spending target to curb reliance on US

Canada has vowed to meet NATO's target of spending 2% of its GDP on defence, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on Monday. Carney called it a necessary step amid growing global instability and Canada's over-reliance on the US. "We will invest in new submarines, aircraft, ships, armed vehicles and artillery, as well as new radar drones," he added.
