Cancer-causing agents found in 12 cake varieties in Bengaluru: Report

Karnataka Food Safety and Quality Department found carcinogenic ingredients in 12 different varieties of cakes from various bakeries in Bengaluru, Vijayavani reported. Artificial colours like Allura Red, Sunset Yellow FCF, Ponceau 4R, Tartrazine & Carmoisine were found in samples. Earlier, Karnataka banned the use of Rhodamine B, a food-colouring agent used in gobhi manchurian and cotton candy.
