Captive-bred pygmy hogs released in Assam's Manas National Park

Nine captive-bred pygmy hogs were released in Assam's Manas National Park by the Pygmy Hog Conservation Programme (PHCP). This marks the fifth release of pygmy hogs at the national park since 2020. The pygmy hog, the world's smallest and rarest wild pig, is critically endangered. The PHCP aims to restore their population through habitat management.
