Cases of condition known as 'Christmas eye' reported in Australia

A tiny beetle is being blamed for rise in an eye condition in northeastern Victoria, Australia. Doctors in the area are reporting a spike in cases of what is called "Christmas eye" or "harvester's eye". The condition, which involves the ulceration of the eye's cornea and can be extremely painful, is caused by the Orthoperus beetle.
