The Scottish government said on Friday it expects the number of Omicron variant cases of COVID-19 to rise significantly in Scotland due to community transmission of the strain. Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said cases are not all linked to a single event. "This confirms our view that there is now community transmission of this variant within Scotland," she added.
