Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made third language a mandatory qualifying subject for students in Classes 9 and 10 under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. From 2027-28 academic session, while the subject will not be part of Class 10 board examination, students must clear school-based internal assessment to receive Secondary School Examination pass certificate.
