The population Census in India will begin on March 1, 2027, in two phases, the government said on Wednesday, adding that it will also include caste enumeration. The Census was scheduled to be conducted in 2020 but had to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The process will start in J&K, Ladakh, and Uttarakhand from October 1, 2026.
