Centre cites policy constraints on disability pension for cadets

The Centre told the Supreme Court it cannot grant disability pension to military cadets boarded out on medical grounds due to policy constraints. Instead, it proposed skill development courses via MoUs with universities. The court, hearing the matter suo motu, posted further hearing on October 7. Around 700 such cadets currently receive ex-gratia of ₹9,000–₹16,000 monthly.
