Centre eases minor penalties under drugs, food safety laws

The Centre has implemented Jan Vishwas Act reforms to decriminalise minor violations under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The changes replace criminal proceedings with administrative penalties for technical lapses, while retaining strict action against offences that threaten public health and consumer safety.
