Volkswagen India said it had kept the Centre informed of its "part-by-part import" model, for which it received a $1.4 billion (nearly ₹12,200 crore) tax demand in November. Volkswagen India said it had received Centre's clarifications in its support. It added that the tax demand "deals a body blow" to the much-advertised "policy of ease of doing business in India".
