Centre is bringing out amendment to allow only senior officials, not below Joint Secretary rank, to issue content take-down orders. There had been instances where officers at rank of sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors were sending content notices to social media companies, an official said. This comes month after HC rejected X's plea challenging officials' power to issue such orders.
