Chaplin got longest standing ovation at Oscars

English comic actor Charlie Chaplin had received a 12-minute long standing ovation at the 44th Academy Awards in 1972, the longest in Oscars history. Originally named Charles Spencer Chaplin, he received an honorary award at the ceremony, for "the incalculable effect he has had in making motion pictures the art form of this century".
