A study conducted by University of California Riverside and University of Texas Arlington's researchers has claimed that the data centres used to run ChatGPT consume 500ml of water for a simple conversation of 20-50 questions and answers. The study further found that training Microsoft's GPT-3 model requires enough clean freshwater used for producing 370 BMW or 320 Tesla cars.
