OpenAI, the firm behind ChatGPT, has suggested a robot tax on companies using AI automation to offset job losses and shrinking labour-based tax revenue. The firm argues that as machines take over more work companies should pay higher capital-linked levies so governments can fund social safety nets and ensure broad benefits from AI driven growth.
