OpenAI has slashed its projected compute-infrastructure budget to about $600 billion by 2030, over 50% lower than earlier signals of roughly $1.4 trillion, aligning spending more closely with expected revenue of more than $280 billion. The move comes as ChatGPT nears 900 million weekly active users and competition intensifies, while the company finalises a funding round above $100 billion.
