The Chennai Metro Phase 2, which is being constructed on Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), is designed to have provisions built in for future expansion to East Coast Road (ECR). Keeping the future expansion in mind, the officials have started the work to build pillars and viaduct for nearly 200m on Kalaingar Karunanidhi Salai.
