RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has said that cheques will now be cleared in a few hours. "At present, cheque clearing through Cheque Truncation System (CTS) operates in a batch processing mode and has a clearing cycle of up to two working days," he said. The introduction of continuous clearing with 'on-realisation-settlement’ in CTS will reduce the clearing cycle, he added.
