The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the Chief Justice of India is the master of the roster and first among equals. The court further said the CJI has the power to assign cases. The ruling comes as the court rejected former Law Minister Shanti Bhushan's plea which said that collegium should be consulted to set up roster of cases.
