A China-backed hacking group named Salt Typhoon with links to three private Chinese companies hacked over 200 American companies, FBI said. The group, which previously hacked into nine US telecom and internet firms, also breached companies in 80 countries. It's been hacking since 2021 and targeted call records of senior American politicians and officials to identify targets of US surveillance.
