China denies plan for near $1 bn fine on Alibaba in monopoly case

Chinese market regulator has refuted a Wall Street Journal report which said that it was planning to impose a record fine of nearly $1 billion on Jack Ma's Alibaba over suspected anti-competitive behaviour. "If it's not there [on our website], it's not [true]," the State Administration for Market Regulation said. China launched an anti-monopoly probe into Alibaba in December 2020.
