China-linked cameras transmit heartbeat communications from UK navy drones

Cameras on Royal Navy surveillance drones triggered security concerns after it was found that they had been transmitting "heartbeat communications" to China. Heartbeat communications are messages exchanged between devices to confirm they are active. The cameras on the drones, which were frequently deployed near sensitive security meetings, continued operating even after drones were shut down.
