A remote township in China recorded the country's highest-ever temperature of 52.2°C on Sunday. This broke a previous record of 50.3°C, measured in July 2015 near the Ayding Lake. The record heat has been reported months after the country recorded its all-time low temperature of minus 53°C in January. China is also experiencing unusually heavy rains that killed several people.
