Chinese EV maker BYD is considering expanding in India, including setting up a unit to put together semi-assembled parts, amid a high backlog of orders, Bloomberg reported. It is also working on obtaining local safety and regulatory certifications for more models because of import quotas. The government earlier rejected BYD's plans to build a full assembly plant, as per reports.
