Former chairman of China’s Huarong Asset Management, Lai Xiaomin was sentenced to death by a court after he was convicted of receiving or seeking bribes totalling $277 million from 2008 to 2018. In early 2020, Xiaomin also confessed that he preferred cash payments and said he would drive truck loads of bills to a Beijing apartment.
