China to allow genetically modified crops to ramp up food security

Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Monday published trial rules for the approval of genetically modified crops to bolster food security. "This really opens the door for plant breeding. It's an infinite opportunity to improve crops...efficiently," said Han Gengchen, Chairman of a seed company. Gene editing refers to the altering of genes of plants to improve their performance.
