China to test jet that moves at double the speed of sound

China’s TMS-10 is nearing final assembly ahead of a planned supersonic test by end-2026. Targeting Mach 2, the technology demonstrator uses an unconventional aerodynamic design to disperse shock waves and reduce sonic-boom intensity. Developed by Tianmushan Laboratory and Beihang University, its technology could eventually enable 10–15-seat aircraft and ultra-fast routes such as Beijing–Shanghai.
