China's 'extinct' baiji dolphin spotted

Chinese animal protection volunteers claim that they have spotted a freshwater 'baiji dolphin', which was declared to be 'functionally extinct' 10 years ago, in China's Yangtze River. In the 1950's, the river was home to over thousands of baiji dolphins, also known as 'white dolphins'. Their population diminished over the years due to overfishing, dam building, and pollution.
