Chinese apparel firms' shares rise amid Xinjiang cotton controversy

Shares of Chinese apparel companies have surged after Chinese social media users last week called for boycott of H&M for refusing to buy cotton produced in Xinjiang. Shanghai Metersbonwe Fashion & Accessories and Ribo Fashion Group each surged 33% since Wednesday's closing. Other foreign retail brands, including Nike, Adidas and Burberry, have also been targeted by users.
