Senior Chinese diplomat Liu Jianchao, who was being widely seen as a potential future foreign minister, was detained for questioning by authorities after he returned to Beijing from overseas trip, a report claimed. Jianchao was last seen in public in Algeria on July 29. He has served as the ambassador to Philippines and Indonesia and spokesperson for China's foreign ministry.
