The Chinese research vessel Shi Yan 6 is heading to Colombo after returning to the Indian Ocean in March 2026. Its repeat deployment follows a four-month survey mission conducted between November 2025 and February 2026 in the same region. The dual-use vessel is equipped with advanced tools such as sub-bottom profilers and magnetometers to map seabed contours.
