Cholesterol levels tied to infection risk: Study

A new study published in European Heart Journal Open found that people with genetically low LDL cholesterol had fewer bacterial infections like sepsis, pneumonia, and diarrhoea but a slightly higher risk of viral infections such as HIV. The results suggest that while low LDL benefits heart health, it may also influence how the immune system responds to infections.
