Cholesterol manufactured in the brain appears to play a key role in the development of Alzheimer's disease, new research indicated. It has shed light on the formation of amyloid plaque in the brain of Alzheimer's patients suggesting that the production of amyloid is the primary cause of Alzheimer's. The study was carried out by scientists from the University of Virginia.
