Windies' Chris Gayle, who holds the record for the highest individual score in IPL, was sold to Kings XI Punjab for ₹2 crore after going unsold twice at the 2018 IPL auction. In 2011, Gayle went unsold at the auction but was called up as an injury replacement and went on to be named the edition's Man of the Tournament.
