Church of England clergy demand pay rise for first time in history

Church of England clergy have demanded a pay increase for the first time in their nearly 500-year history as they struggle with a "cost-of-living crisis". The trade union Unite, which represents over 2,000 clergy and lay officers, said it has demanded a 9.5% rise in the clergy stipend. Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham said they were among the "working poor".
