Citigroup is expected to lay off around 1,000 employees this week as part of a plan announced two years ago to reduce headcount by 20,000 by the end of 2026, according to reports. The bank had about 2,29,000 full-time employees as of December 31, 2024. Citigroup confirmed that it'll reduce its workforce this year, but didn't disclose the exact number.
