Climate change rate to turn Spain to desert by 2100: Study

A France-based study has predicted that southern Spain might be reduced to desert by 2100 if the current greenhouse emission rates remain unchecked. By modelling vegetation conditions in Mediterranean basin, scientists suggested that global temperature would rise up to 5°C by the end of the century, causing deserts to expand northwards and replace Mediterranean vegetation with deciduous forests.
