Climate change threatens Loktak’s rohu

Climate change could sharply reduce habitat for rohu, a commercially important fish, in Manipur's Loktak Lake. Rising temperatures, changing rainfall, altered water depth and declining dissolved oxygen are expected to degrade fish habitat, with the greatest losses under high emissions. Existing pressures from pollution, fishing practices and altered hydrology could worsen risks to fisheries.
