Coastal Bengal tests new farming methods

Farmers in coastal Bengal are testing combinations of short duration rice, early sowing, improved drainage and crop residue retention to manage waterlogging and dry season salinity. The approach can help restore Rabi cultivation in areas affected by changing rainfall, groundwater conditions and rising salinity, while increasing cropping intensity and supporting farm incomes.
