Supreme Court Collegium's recommendation to elevate Patna High Court Chief Justice Vipul M Pancholi to SC was reportedly not unanimous. Justice BV Nagarathna, one of the five collegium members, reportedly dissented to his elevation, citing "regional imbalance". SC already has two judges from the Gujarat High Court, she reportedly argued. Justice Pancholi was transferred from Gujarat HC in 2023.
