Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar was killed by the police on December 2, 1993, in Medellin. Escobar headed the Medellin drug cartel that smuggled large quantities of cocaine in the US, earning an estimated $420 million a week. He was responsible for the deaths of about 4,000 people, including three Colombian presidential candidates.
