Since 2019, India has witnessed over 70 child deaths linked to contaminated cough syrups containing toxic diethylene glycol (DEG). The Jammu region lost 11 children, while more recent fatalities in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have raised urgent concerns about drug safety and quality control in the country’s pharmaceutical supply chain.
