Communal tension erupted in Bhiwandi area of Maharashtra's Thane as stones were pelted at Lord Ganesh idol near Hindustani Mosque during immersion procession on Anant Chaturdashi. A commotion erupted during the procession and police resorted to lathi charge. Three FIRs have been filed on charges of hurting religious feelings and rioting. Police detained some "notorious elements", officers said.
