German company ‘Leaf Republic’ uses siali and sal leaves, reportedly imported from India, to make tableware which is biodegradable within 28 days. According to the company’s website, no trees are cut to make the tableware. The eco-friendly utensils are made of three layers- a layer of leaves, followed by water-proof, leaf-made paper and finally another sheet of leaves.
