The Odisha Congress demanded the resignation of CM Mohan Majhi, Deputy CM Pravati Parida, and Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan over the Puri stampede that killed three and injured over 50 people. The party sought ₹50 lakh ex-gratia for each deceased devotee and ₹25 lakh for the seriously injured, calling CM Majhi’s earlier ₹25 lakh compensation for the victims' families “insufficient".
